Artist Statement:

Adele Warner’s practice is deeply rooted in metropolitan existence. Quoting historical techniques of the Western painterly canon, she redeploys them to create meditations on the social reality of contemporary life.  These techniques are contrasted by references to new developments in methods of painting, including media manipulation and digital collage.

Themes of social alienation, estrangement and feminine sexual identity pervade her practice, and are often displayed through melancholic views of her world. Works call upon a universal sense of nostalgia and familiarity through use of appropriated imagery and symbols, yet deny viewers warmth or comfort.

Biography:

Adele Warner is an Eora based artist. She graduated a bachelor of fine arts at the National Art School in 2022, majoring in painting.
